Earls Court Modern Apartment
We were hired by the client to decorate their living room (along with a few other areas in their large scale lateral apartment) in their period property in London. Although it had period features, the client was after a modern style and design so we needed to find a balance to be able to combine the two. The client was a lovely family with kids so we needed to keep the room feeling cosy for TV sessions and playing board games around the table - as well as enough running around space for the kids!
We achieved style through layering the room with textures, such as natural wood finishes, burnished bronze and metals, and a variety of fabrics, yet sticking to straight lines and modern shapes. We stuck to a muted modern palette of blues and neutrals and kept the depth and variety through various textures and patterns in the fabrics. The large scale faded oushak style rug was made bespoke for them (we needed a rug bigger than most out there to suit the proportions of the room!) and it perfectly brings the modern and classic together - adding that softness and pattern to the room.
