East Cliff Renovation

Mom and kids both love baking, the kitchen was outdated and didn’t have proper venting, which made this passion a challenge. We needed to create a bright, updated, and functional space for the family. The Dining Room wasn’t being used because they would tend to gather at the Dinette table for all meals. The clients wanted to figure out a way to force themselves to want to use the Dining Room area more. They weren’t afraid to add bold colors, so we played with cabinet colors and added a vibrant piece of artwork for a pop of color. The clients already had a large island so we kept the scale to maximize counter space for all the baking they do and added cabinets to the backside of the island to create more storage options. There are always a ton of fruit and veggies on the counter so part of the new storage system contains drawers with brass grates for ventilation and visibility to accommodate these items. In order to keep the counters open and decluttered, we introduced a double appliance garage in the custom built cabinets to house several small appliances that the family uses daily.
The client’s had a couple of heirloom furniture pieces that needed to be incorporated into the new Dining Room. They really liked the idea of combining fresh banquette seating with their treasured dining table to create a delightful blend of old and new. We expanded the custom kitchen cabinetry into the dining room space to tie the two rooms together.
