East Coast Lakeside Cottage
Created for a couple whose California residence we remodeled several years ago, this new lakeside cottage in New Hampshire features dramatic views and interior volumes. As the owners wished to leave the suburban feel behind, the residence has no sheetrock at all, instead utilizing red oak flooring and pickled pine walls, ceilings and site built cabinetry. Designed to be a summer retreat, the owners have since transformed the residence into a year-round retreat. Much of the year, the guest rooms are filled with friends, neighbors, grandkids, and maybe a few business acquaintances. Even the architect, each time a new addition, of which there have been several, is completed
A recent addition has added a new garage with home office on the lower level, and a kids playroom and "bunkhouse" above. This addition is connected to the main residence which the owners still call "the cottage", by a "covered bridge" which spans from the parking level across to the cottage, and down via stairs to the pool/game room. More recently, though not yet pictured, is a grade-level new master suite on the opposite end of the cottage, complete with sun/sewing room and new decks facing out onto the lake.
