East Hampton Cottage

Cooper Robertson's design of this 5,000 square foot shingled cottage in East Hampton, New York, reconsidered a number of East End conventions. The normal front/back relationship of the house to the street is reversed, locating back-of-the-house spaces on the street side. Conversely, the high “front of the house” opens to the back of the site: a great lawn surrounded by a garden wall of high privet and filled with large trees.
