eichler kitchen + interior remodel
Our client has lived her whole life around Eichler homes, and she knows this one intimately. Our task wasn't to reinvent her house but to listen to it — to recover the openness, light, and connection to landscape that a previous renovation had quietly eroded, and to shape a kitchen worthy of how she actually lives: cooking for family, entertaining often, moving easily between kitchen, dining, and living room.
The design responds to three goals.
1. A kitchen built for the rituals of cooking and gathering that define our client’s relationship to her home.
2. A stronger physical and visual connection between kitchen, dining, and living room, so the house functions as one continuous social space rather than separate rooms.
3. The most fundamental — a return to the original Eichler DNA: post-and-beam rhythm, walls of glass, and a choreography of compression and release that ties the interior to the landscape outside.
