Electronic pet doors are becoming more popular and we get calls for them every day. In general we say if you don't need an electronic door, don't get one. The smaller, inexpensive electronic doors function well, but they aren't as weather tight as a good quality non-electronic door. The best reason to get an electronic door is to keep a stray cat from getting in and spraying to mark its territory (YUCK!) or to keep raccoons out.
