Elm Residence

This project is a contemporary interpretation of a Shaughnessy style house from the 1920’s. Vancouver has many wonderful examples residential architecture built in Shaughnessy and throughout other neighbourhoods in the city. City Zoning Bylaws encourage new homes in these neighborhoods to be compatible in design with the existing streets cape. Outside the exterior design reinterprets elements of the Shaughnessy style house that mark a house as uniquely Vancouver in style - painted wood, textured stucco, stone, cottage windows. Vancouver’s wooden homes follow a tradition of carpentry and craftsmanship carried on by the craftsmen people that build these homes.
