English Gothic Pool House

This project embraced the challenge of creating a flat outdoor area on a sloped lot and connecting to an existing home designed in the English Gothic style. The Client wanted a very open, contemporary interior that connected seamlessly with the outdoor space suitable for family as well as entertaining.

The Family Room is the central space of the pool house and incorporates durable materials such as concrete floor, granite walls, and wood ceilings to withstand the high use yet maintain a unique but formal feel.

The Women's bath features a barrel vaulted ceiling that floods the space with natural light while maintaining privacy and a custom made wooden tub that serves as the focal point of the space.

The acrylic wine racks reflect the gothic arches of the homes windows and use fiber optic lighting to set a variety of moods. The glass ceiling opens the room for display to a sitting room above and motorized black out shades provide protection for the wine collection.

The Men's bath features limestone walls and back lit accent panels to create a relaxing but masculine feel.

This fully functional Kitchen is designed for entertaining as well as cooking. back lit onyx backsplash and led panel under the counter top add unexpected light to the space. The pantry is a continuation of the kitchen and houses several built in appliances .

The stair case is a modern interpretation of William Morris' Red House which was influential in the English Arts &Crafts movement, making it a natural choice for this project. The contemporary light fixture was custom designed by Tom Cole.
