Family Friendly Kitchen
After previous owners added a sunroom to the back of the house, the old kitchen became a dark, interior choke point that lacked both functionality and style. Two stubby peninsulas impeded traffic flow in every direction. Wise Design boldly moved the dining room wall closer and eliminated the awkward access from the living room to bring order to the front entry. But the dining room archway grew to better integrate the cooking and dining areas. The outdoorsy couple chose timeless natural maple cabinets, solid quartzite stone counters and an easy clean stainless steel backsplash. The new layout enhanced natural light into the kitchen. Dimmable LED ceiling cans and under cab lighting along with accessible storage have improved the work space. Now the kitchen literally flows. Special touches include north shore stone hutch knobs and a sunroom pass-thru sill formed from reclaimed white pine wood from the owner’s childhood home.
