The client wanted to renovate the basement of her home to create a playroom for her young grandchildren – four boys and one girl, all under age 6. It was also important that adults could be comfortable in the space when supervising the children at play or sharing family time, reading and watching TV. The challenges included a support column in the middle of the space, safety aspects concerning the furnace area and meter boxes, and low ceilings.
