This family wanted their fireplace to make a statement. The problem was that a few members in the family are all about straight lines and knowing exactly what it would look like before we started. They were first thinking of a perfectly milled Cypress mantle with clean angles and glass mosaic tile within the current white frame. But from our interview, I knew that really wasn't what they wanted. I took the whole family on a field trip to the cypress yard. I asked them to think outside the box as they were choosing their piece. I then had to ask them to trust me. I think that I was as nervous as they were. From the knotted pecky cypress mantle to the stacked stone, I was doing something so far out of their comfort zone. When it was finished, every member of the family LOVED it! When people walk in their home, it is the first thing they see and comment on. The fireplace does as they asked... It makes a gorgeous statement!
