Front Entry Garden (lawn replacement), Ardmore
The front of this Main Line home was exposed to a heavily trafficked sidewalk. The view from the office window was of particular importance to the homeowners. Originally planted with turf grass the front sloped lawn was redesigned to create a scrim from road. Cool season grasses were selected for their fastigiaten form from frost and freeze and for their early emergence of their flowers. Powerful drifts of Calamagrostis, Packera, Perovskia, Sporobolus, and Aster under plant deciduous flowering trees creating a bold and restrained composition.
