This bench was inspired by Tage Frid and Bill Rainford.. It is a traditional Scandinavian Woodworkers bench. It is made from 8/4X4" Hard maple with Black Walnut and Mahgony Accents. Vice Hardware is from Lee Valley, they are the cheap ones and I do not recommend them. The base is 8/4 Figured Hard...

All smoothing and flattening of the bench was done by hand with #4 #5 and #6 Stanley planes, the newest of which is 100 years old

to check if the top is flat, place the plane on an angle across the top and look for any light coming underneath it. This top is perfectly flat

Three coats of Tung oil, Mahagony blocks on the back are so the top can be taken apart and stood up on the blocks, preventing damage to the top.
