FutureHAUS
FutureHAUS is a multidisciplinary research project that explores manufacturing strategies and the greater integration of technology with architecture, or the industrialized production of smart homes.
Researchers Joseph Wheeler, professor of architecture and co-director of the Center for Design Research, and Denis Gracanin, associate professor in the College of Engineering’s Department of Computer Science are leading the project. Both were key faculty for the LumenHAUS, which won the International Solar Decathlon competition in Madrid, Spain, and received a 2012 AIA Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture.
Wheeler and Gracanin are working with a team of students and faculty from industrial design, architecture, interior design, visual communication design, and computer science to build a prototype for the house of the future.
