Going Green At The Beach
Dave & Anna Porter are rebels with a cause. They grew up in the '70's protesting the establishment and dreaming of how they'd conquer the world with love, kindness, and grassroots change. As in actual grass roots. Way ahead of their time, they purposed to live a life free of the typical American dream, eschewing the norm to live in harmony with the land they loved. Industry had a long way to go to catch up with the Porters. As years past, though, they found themselves quite successful yet inadvertently living the high-life they had protested years before. Taking stock of their success, they turned a 180 right back to their youthful ideals and began a pursuit toward sustainable living. Selling their stunning sprawl in a remote eastside Seattle suburb they cast off their accumulations and made for the beach to do something exciting and new. A century-old beach front cottage teardown was the launching pad for "Going Green At The Beach" - a 2-year educational foray into the world of sustainable living. The result is an award-winning LEED Gold certified project they now call home > full of love, laughter, heartache, and good times.
