Goodbye 1960s. Hello beautiful.

A leaky toilet meant tearing up the floor in the powder room of this 1960s home. The homeowner decided that as long as we were at it, it was time for a major overhaul. A previous homeowner had updated some years ago with paint and wood floors (during the tearout we found evidence the space sported hot pink walls and emerald green shag carpeting at some point.) The current owners wanted something that was bright and fresh and paid homage to the home's midcentury style in a modern way.

Tearing out the bulkhead over the vanity instantly opened up the space. White paint on the walls and trim and white flooring took another step towards making the space feel lighter and brighter. The iron vanity adds interest and provides storage while still making the space feel open. The geometric tile is a nod towards the homes midcentury style. Edison pendant lights, a bold color accent wall and oversized modern art complete the look. Goodbye 1960s, hello beautiful.
