Like many of our projects, this landscape renovation blended contemporary hardscape elements with the more traditional architecture of the home, a classic Portland bungalow.

A native basalt retaining wall grounds the sloped front yard, planted with specimens such as Ceanothus 'Pt. Reyes' and Juncus 'Spiralis', and Black Mondo Grass. Creative stormwater management is achieved via a central front yard rain garden, which also welcomes in beneficial wildlife.

A custom double-sided cedar fence lends privacy to the back yard, which is surrounded by plantings beds with colorful specimens like Cosmos, Sedum, Crepe Mertyl and Hebe. A variegated bluestone path wraps around the planting beds, leading to a large variegated bluestone patio which serves as an outdoor dining and entertaining area.
