This kitchen was closed off and had limited storage with a small island and cramped walkways. We opted to eliminate the island and create a U shaped kitchen. In doing so we took down a wall to open the space and gain a view of the dining area and a large window with natural light to make up for the window we were covering over to gain additional wall cabinets. The U-shape allowed us to get more seating at bar height for the family. We also opened up a limited use pantry to make room for a large capacity slide-in refrigerator and a cabinet pantry with pullouts and tray storage
