After many years of struggling with umbrellas and canopies in their backyard spaces, our clients engaged us to design and install shade structures over two areas in their backyard.
The lower patio space is by their pool and gets a lot of sun. The idea was to create a more permanent space where family and guests could lounge by the pool, watch television, have a fire and relax out of the sun or rain.
We designed a rustic timber pavilion with modern details to suit their needs. The clients’ Sonos speaker system was incorporated into the design to flow seamlessly from inside to out and a fire table with ceiling fan was added to provide ambience. All the cables, cords and devices are housed behind the tv wall in a sealed cabinet accessible from the back.
On the upper patio, our client wanted a home for his large grill and ceramic egg. We designed and built a custom stone and steel grill island with a cantilevered roof to avoid having posts in the patio space.
The roof is suspended from a custom metal frame and the whole unit was craned into the back yard due to space and weight constraints.
Natural stone counters and backsplash along with a modern screen and cedar ceiling with pot lights finish off the grill station
