The homeowners of this crazy, unique master shower took on the task of renovating the top level of a barn. Yes - a full functioning horse barn. While they needed to desperately update the space (and/or make it livable..), they also wanted to keep the authentic feel of a "farmhouse" or "barn" throughout the living space. As they both fell in love with the handmade, wavy or hand crafted tile in general, they couldn't agree on 1 color. So, we compromised. The wife wanted white and the husband wanted grey. We found a pretty solid grey from the Opal collection for the bottom half and a very worn, unique white tile with grey/blue tones for the top half - from a collection called "Grunge". I always recommend putting the darker color as the bottom half so whatever you're working with doesn't feel top heavy. Here you can see how it helps "ground" the space. They both loved this idea of combining the colors and we couldn't deny how well they went together even coming from different collections and suppliers. Both tiles have that undulation to them which gives a handmade look and goes perfectly with the farmhouse feel. I can't think of a better option for this type of project - it turned out great! The two tones really update the the space and the multicolored white tile isn't something you see everyday! If I remember correctly, the bottom half of the barn still has legit horse stalls..but I'm not sure they're as decked out as this one!
