Hartura ADA Renovation

One of our clients had recently been confined to a wheelchair. This joint project with the homeowner and the VA converted an awkward, outdated master bath into a thing of beauty.

Relocating the carport door and adding an additional ramp allowed for two means of egress from the home. Enclosing the unused covered porch and re-configuring that end of the home allowed room for an office nook, powder bath and a large laundry room.

Overall the main goal was to add the adaptability needs and wheelchair access while creating a thoughtful, beautiful design.

The sink on the left has a recessed area allowing for better wheelchair access. Even though functional it still looks beautiful with the overall design.

Master bath vanity

We removed the outdated cultured marble counters and brass bathroom fixtures giving the space a modern feel. Two hands-free Delta Touch2O faucets and soap dispensers were added. The cabinetry actually floats approximately 10" above the floor and accent lighting was added for a dramatic flair.

This ADA wheelchair accessible ramp is not only functional but attractive. Treated lumber and coated rebar pickets have low maintenance and give an updated look.

Two decorative gates were added to allow easy access without having to go around the ramp.

We enclosed a small underused covered porch, relocated the carport door and created a office nook with great views to the lake. The additional space became a much needed powder room for the first floor.

Rear view of office nook extension. It was important to match both the existing windows and concrete fiberboard. Sometimes you have to be creative when renovating as the windows were discontinued but we think this is a close match.

Well thought out spaces even though small can be beautiful and functional. We added two integral file cabinets in lower drawers, a pullout that allows the printer to be hidden from sight and mail organizational center.

This powder room is tucked into the new expanded space created by enclosing the covered porch.

Double pocket doors allow wheelchair access to laundry but also can be closed off when needed. We also added an occupancy sensor for the overhead light.

Custom cabinetry allows for easy access to laundry supplies as well as elevates front loading washer and dryer for better functionality.

A large Blanco single-bowl silgranite sink and handsfree Delta Touch2O faucet make cleanup easy.

We enlarged the entrance to the master bedroom and bath area with a double 4' wide door allowing easy wheelchair access.

To compliment the floating vanity cabinetry, this shallow storage unit was constructed to be floating as well. Accent lighting was added under cabinets and behind the glass doors.

Bamboo mosaic glass tile was added to cabinet wall and the entrance to the shower.

This roll-in shower works well for everyone with a linear drain allowing water to properly drain without splashing into the main bathroom.
