This hillside residence received the City of Boise 2020 Building Excellence Award. This modern home integrates innovative design with sustainable, energy efficient construction methods. The home is clad with a natural patina steel rain screen that is firewise for the WUI foothills location as well as aesthetically unique. The butterfly roof design is a homage to Le Corbusier and serves a dual-purpose in allowing expansive views to the East through four 10’6” x 6’ picture windows as well as keeping the architecture of the home feel modest in size. The home is 2200 square feet with a 4-car garage sunk into the hillside. There is a 7.7kW solar system that provides ample power to offset the energy demands throughout the year. The house achieved an air tightness score of 1.6 ACH50 and thus will be efficient to heat and cool with minimal energy loss.
