Honey Bee Ridge

The goal of this project was to create custom artwork for the new residents of a custom home in Arizona after completion of a renovation. The artist Tanja Eltze was inspired by various design elements in the space, the light situation, as well as the tastes of the two homeowners. While doing that, various challenges could be addressed like niches that asked for pieces in a specific format, as well as the flow of the house. One of the niches had a round shape, so a floating installation method was chosen for this artwork.

This piece was created for a deep niche near the entrance area and had to stand out. The juxtaposition of rustic wood and elegant gold create tension and interest. The gold brings light to the otherwise dark niche.

The piece was created for a hallway right outside the master bedroom. It is inspired by the transition from night to day. The lighter right side leads the viewer to the sun-filled living area in the morning, helping with the flow of the space.
