House In The Round

This home, located in Weston, CT, is quite unique due to numerous nine foot, round stone turrets running throughout the entire house. Built by a famous architect in 1974, it screamed for a modern update. The clients wanted clean lines and a modern esthetic. The master bathroom was by far the greatest challenge because the clients wanted a tub and a shower installed in a round stone turret with a thirty foot ceiling and skylight. Because this space is round, one of the biggest challenges was creating a pitch so the water could drain, D2 Interieurs custom designed a drain system that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. Another challenge was having the entire space one level because of the size and weight of the glass, so we had to call in an engineer to precisely place and support the shower wall, thus creating a free floating wall. A freestanding stone tub and floating shower were designed to fit into a nearly impossible space.
