Sited along the edge of an estuary feeding into San Francisco Bay, this undistinguished ranch house was transformed into a Nantucket inspired home. The new cupola crowning its center provides an architectural presence to both the exterior and interior of the building. Light now floods the center of the house through the windows on all four sides, enlivening the rooms below with the play of light and shadow that changes as the sun moves across the sky.
