The homeowner’s built their house in 1972. After 40 years of use, the kitchen and adjacent accessory spaces were in need of an upgrade. Having a limited budget, JM Studio donated their architectural services to design the renovation. The kitchen, bath, laundry, and stair were reconfigured to meet the functional and aesthetic needs of the homeowners while simultaneously being affordable, sustainable, and thoughtful in terms of ease of construction for the homeowners. IKEA cabinets were selected for their affordability and construction ease. Recycled quartz counter tops, LED lighting, Energy Star appliances, and cork flooring were selected for their sustainability and energy savings. Construction completed in Fall 2012.
