Impressive Master Bedroom Suite
Significant addition and modest renovation
The work included the demolition of the existing two car garage and
mudroom/TV room to be replaced with a new three car garage, a dedicated
mudroom, a family room with a gas fireplace and open to the back yard, and a
large screen porch. The existing kitchen was renovated in place overlooking the
new family room while maximizing storage and the addition of a bay window for
a stronger connection to the back yard. The second floor required converting
one of the bedrooms into a hallway and laundry room, to gain access to the new
master bedroom suite. The master bedroom is impressive with a colonnaded
hall flanking the bedroom, a barrel vaulted ceiling, French doors and extensive
glass overlooking the back yard, with two walk-in closets, a roof deck over the
screen porch accessible from the master suite, and a large master bathroom
with a frameless glass steam shower enclosure prepped for a future free
standing tub. Adjacent to the garage we incorporated a large dog room open to
the back yard for their two dogs. From the street the project looks like it was
always there and in keeping with the neighborhood but the barrel vaulted
master bedroom and expanse of glass in the family room and screen porch
provide an impressive feature to the rear of the house and a strong connection
to the back yard.
