Indian Hills
A beautiful site on the top of a hill in Edina. There was an existing old home that needed to be updated. A walk out rambler that was torn down, preserving the existing foundation that was preserved for the Residence's building footprint. Another story was added to the home, and the look of the home changed from a 1950's rambler, to a shake shingle cottage. The layout and interiors was to keep it a timeless, traditional look- much like the clients previous home in South Minneapolis. Attention was given to the millworking, and functionality of the floor plans for how this family would live. The most important essence of the design was how to make this home feel like you were living in the trees. The large groupings of windows, the multiple decks and porches- the connection to the exterior and site was important. To walk out of your Master Suite and float in the trees.
