Irena by the Sea

Rooted 7 blocks from the Pacific Ocean in Redondo Beach California, this home represented a new start for a family with three young children. This large scale renovation was inspired by the family’s active lifestyle and love of the water. This property was thoughtfully reimagined to improve the layout and overall function of the home. Each piece of furniture was carefully selected for its durability and to cater to the family and their beach loving friends.

A fun patterned cement tile was used to invoke a bright and cheery entry. Custom railings were installed to offer a more open feel. Board and Batten was added to the hallway walls to offer visual interest and texture while maintaining a clean look.

Patterned cement tile from the entry was brought into the fireplace surround to make the spaces cohesive. A framed picture of a surfer combined with coastal paintings grouped together on the mantel help accentuate the colors of the ocean.

A contemporary low profile couch along with a bench seat offer seating areas without blocking traffic flow. Fun patterns on the pillows and rug add color and texture to the space.

Cohesiveness was brought to the built in bar by using the same cement as the entry for the backsplash. New white quartz countertop and bright colored teal paint on lower cabinets transformed this space to a fun, functional bar.
