Islamorada Transformation
Robert Barnes transformed this Islamorada home by removing the front gable end roof and replacing it with a hipped roof. This created a more subtle and inviting relationship between the front yard and the property entrance. Addition of shiplap siding on the front walls with a trellised arbor on the rear porch lends to a more intimate Keysee traditional ambiance.
Robert Barnes also redesigned the existing boxed-in staircase with a modern staircase with glass and stainless steel railings, to incorporate more detail in the exterior. Inside, the front wall was opened up to bring the outside landscape into the kitchen and breakfast area. Lastly, the interior floors and stair were stripped and polished, which created an upscale, retro Keysee feel.
