We transformed a formerly rough-and-tumble artist’s live-work loft for a young family in an iconic West Village manufacturing building. A crisp, spare interior defined by white plaster, natural stone, antiqued mirror, and cool woods is inserted into the soaring existing volume defined by perimetral exposed brick framing soaring windows, a monumental central arched window, steel columns, and exposed steel beams. Ample natural light articulates the subtle play of materials and details, both new and old.
