This Japanese gate is part of the Hardy Elementary School (Arlington, MA) garden and outdoor classroom. It was designed by Musco with the assistance of six Japanese Hardy School mothers. The timbers were sawn by Josh Doub. The gate was raised by Hardy School parents on May 4, 2012. The plaque on the gate reads:

“This Japanese Gate is dedicated to the strength and courage of the Japanese people in the aftermath of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and to our ties of friendship and caring which reach beyond distance and time. May 4, 2012”
