A covered entryway combines large bronze-toned concrete tiles with matching carved glass, all made in Susan's Santa Cruz studios.
Art glass and bronze-tone tile entryway
The ancient technique of carving into glass with stone wheels created this design of intersecting circles. The panels of glass are held over a lathe and guided by hand over spinning stone wheels of varying shapes and sizes. Polishing with pumice and cork brings out the high gloss inherent in glass.
"Intersections"
A round cut-out in the wall lets air and light breathe through the hallway and kitchen, also surprising guests who expect to see their own reflection.
