Our client —a young family of three, required a complete renovation of their recently purchased apartment. Over a hundred squared meters and located in the ground floor of a hundred year old building in the heart of the city centre; together with the client, the residence program was defined as to have an open floor plan of the social areas with a clear separation with the more private bedrooms. The driving principle of the intervention was to bring inside, the morning sunlight rays, and allow for a direct relationship between the indoors living spaces and the outdoors beautifully gardened backyard without disturbing the facade. With minor floor plan movements, yet greatly crafted detailing, the kitchen and living room were joint together. Thanks to the new wood deck over the existing balcony, the backyard was made accessible from the living room directly
