Kickoff to Rebuild 2013
Kickoff to Rebuild (www.rebuildingtogether.org/ktr2013) is an annual NFL sanctioned event hosted by Rebuilding Together. For 18 years, Rebuilding Together has partnered with the NFL in Super Bowl cities across the country, rebuilding houses and bringing together neighborhoods, home by home, block by block, because everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy home.
On February 1, 2013, we mobilized hundreds of volunteers, past and present NFL members and players, community leaders, well-known national celebrities, and local and national sponsors to complete renovations on homes in the Algiers neighborhood of McClendonville. Kickoff to Rebuild was the only Super Bowl sanctioned service project that took place on the West Bank of New Orleans.
Players from the Saints, Lions, and Broncos joined Carter Oosterhouse, Latin Pop singer Stefani Vara, SkillsUSA LA students, Saints cheerleaders, government officials, media, the O. Perry Walker HS Brass Band and football team, and teams of tailgate chefs to welcome and work beside over 300 volunteers.
Rebuilding Together and Lowe's have partnered with Carter's Kids to build a new playground as part of Kickoff to Rebuild.
