Kitchen 1 - Vashon

This is a 100 year old Sea Captain's house on a Vashon Island bluff overlooking Seattle. When they picked up the fir flooring to recycle it in the new kitchen they discovered a half-inch thick layer of 1907 newspapers that were used to insulate the floor when the house was built. These newspapers even had the Sunday funnies just like today. When you think about how much a kitchen costs today, back then you could buy a building lot in Leschi for less than the price of a woman's whalebone corset!
