Kitchen Addition & Carport

This was a very special project. This 1950’s ranch house was originally my grandmother, grandfather, and father’s home. I have spent countless hours there—from the time I was born until I moved to the Phoenix area.

It is now my mother’s home. My mom has had a passion for cooking for as long as I can remember. She decided to update and expand the kitchen and we got to work.

We helped design an addition to improve the function, look and energy efficiency of the home based on her input and ideas.

Mom wanted a larger, more open and modern kitchen. We extended the kitchen into a new breakfast seating area and covered entrance. A walk-in pantry complete with shelving and storage space was created.

The area for the kitchen table was also expanded with a “bump out” addition to accommodate family holiday gatherings and dinner parties.

The cabinet and counter space was doubled. New solid wood cabinets feature pull out shelves behind doors and plenty of drawers. Mom’s large cook book library found a home in built-in bookshelves in the breakfast area.
