Kitchen and stair remodel

The client had recently moved into this cute bungalow of which needed major upgrades on the interior. We collaborated together to maximize kitchen efficiency in a very small kitchen space. Also as part of this project, the basement stair was redone to get code minimum headroom.

Prairie Studio worked with the client a single parent who recently purchased this house and was looking for remodeling the kitchen to bring up the aesthetics and to make the kitchen more efficient. This view looks from the dining room into the kitchen and into a farm type sink.

Looking back towards the kitchen entrance you find a retro-style stove with the exhaust hood.

As you turn the corner into the kitchen you find the refrigerator boxed in at the "L" and raised for better utilization. Beyond you find a bench with a work station and above the bench is a built-in pantry that was fitted over the existing stairway.

Utilizing the space we had, the refrigerator is neatly tucked in the elbow of the "L" in the kitchen and is placed close to the back door entrance close to the existing garage. the stair had to be reworked to provide accessible headroom as you traveled to the basement which also left an opportunity...

At the back part of the kitchen, the owner desired to have a workspace, so a desk was created and an adjoining bench laid out for multiple uses. This also kept in mind the best utilization of the window providing a bucolic view of a large back yard.
