Farmhouse Chic in Hainesport NJ
This young couple wanted us to infuse a “rustic industrial chic” into the home with this renovation. The inspiration piece for the remodel was their dark walnut farmhouse butcher block table.
The new Expresso island with dark walnut butcher-block top provides seating and storage, but also ties in with the owner’s farmhouse table and new matching shelves that flank the stainless stove hood. To stay in budget and provide visual contrast, white cabinetry and Quartz countertops line the perimeter of the kitchen. Located on either side of the refrigerator are the new microwave/coffee bar area and the mail/charging station area.
To achieve ceiling height upper cabinetry, we stacked 15” tall white open cabinetry (with the interior painted to display books and other sundries) atop 36” tall cabinets, and built up the façade with crown molding. One of the new open cabinets conceals an outlet to power a Sonos speaker for music.
Also on the owner’s must-have list was the stainless farmhouse sink, a beverage fridge for the kids, and a pot filler. The black finish of the new faucet and pot filler contribute further to the farmhouse feel. We installed 12” x 24” porcelain tile to provide the industrial-look floor the owners requested.
New distressed hardwood flooring in adjacent rooms, a new powder room with rustic vanity and black fixtures, and two renovated staircases now reflect the current character of the home. We also widened the window over the sink for a better view of the pool and replaced the exit door with a new full view door.
