Upscale Kitchen Remodeling in Barrington
We remodeled this kitchen for a Barrington homeowner, updating the previous aesthetic into a a more functional and organized kitchen. There are “after” photos below. Be sure to compare to the “before” photo that follows to see the difference.
What We Did During the Remodel
As you can see in the images above, the previous kitchen lacked storage space, and there were some features that benefited from an upgrade. Here are a few of the things we remodeled for this kitchen.
New kitchen island. You’ll notice that the previous kitchen island featured a stove, and with the new island, that is now replaced by a sink. There was some plumbong that had to be completed for this to work. The new island also contains a microwave on one side and a dishwasher on the other side. Another feature on the new kitchen island is bar seating on the opposite side of the sink.
Replacement countertops. The old kitchen had a darker color palette, with dark brown quartzite countertops. These were replaced with white natural stone countertops throughout the kitchen and on the island.
Stainless steel stove and range. Since the stove was previously in the island in the middle of the kitchen, we made a new spot for a new oven and four-burner range. This will allow the family to cook while staying out of the way of the rest of the people moving through the kitchen. We also had to add a kitchen hood to vent the cooking exhaust.
Hardwood laminate flooring. The old kitchen had square vinyl flooring, which was replaced with a beautiful hardwood laminate flooring, in a medium brown stain.
New cabinets. With the dishwasher moving to the kitchen island, the cabinets on the window side of the kitchen had to be replaced. These were also upgraded to higher quality cabinets throughout the kitchen area. On the side farthest away from the window, we added mounted cabinets with see-through glass, allowing the homeowners to see the dishes stored within.
New lighting. Finishing out the redesign, we replaced the hanging lights above the kitchen island, and installed new recessed lighting to brighten the kitchen. Using the natural light, updating the flooring and countertops, and improving the lighting now make this kitchen bright and illuminated compared to before.
