This Classic Denver Bungalow had a remodeled kitchen from early 2000, but it was lacking strongly in style that related to the existing homes craftsman details. It was not functional for the busy family of two working parents and three little kiddos. They needed so much more room, but new they could not move into the adjacent living room space.
Without moving outside of the existing footprint, what helped make it feel and function better was the widening of the original doorway from the living room, moving the refrigerator and added oven/micro combination to the opposite wall. Changing the windows out to fixed lites maintained the same window proportion, framed the hood and cooktop in the center and helped the space feel bigger with the elimination of window trim. In the cabinetry the use of big two drawer units also contributed to a sense of space while creating amazing storage capacity.
