The boring 1980s kitchen with all-white painted cabinets was updated by moving the range to where the former sink had been. A sweeping elliptical peninsula created space for the main sink and a large prep sink, with the dishwasher located conveniently between the sinks. There's more countertop space adjacent to all appliances, for food preparation, and cleanup. The back of the island has a seating area for guests, and there's a built-in table for family and friends. Custom alder cabinets were used for all base cabinets, and painted/glazed beige cabinets were used for wall cabinets and tall cabinets.
