The house sits on the edge of Lake Creek and is bordered by mature aspen trees and rural pastures. The new home is dug into the site to integrate better with the natural contours of the land yet it still maintains great views of the surrounding valley. Modern elements such as exposed steel, metal panel walls, and board form concrete work together with the homes modern Japanese influence such as Engawa’s, gardens, pebble ballast roofs, and “Japanese Room”, to create a contemporary mountain home. The home utilizes passive solar and photo-voltaic energy as well as being built from other sustainable practices in order to achieve a LEED accreditation for homes.
