Lakeview Infill
More images coming soon that will speak to the unique character of this modern home designed for a narrow lot overlooking a lake in the City's most poplar public park within neighborhood widely known for its eclectic mix of architecture. Along a busy thoroughfare, the living spaces are elevated above the street while cantilevering nearly 10 feet to intensify the experience and connections to the greenspace, while supporting a sense of refuge from within. Natural materials such as FSC certified cherry floors, maple cabinets and Virginia granite define a simple, light calming interior palette; the home is also powered by a small (4 kW) PV system and harvests all rainwater to feed its native plant-based gardens. The exterior comprises corrugated metal cladding, stucco, cypress and a roman blue-black brick that marks an intentional departure from the red Virginia brick that pervades Richmond and, though subtle, the home's proportioning system harmonizes with the scale and mass of adjacent older homes.
