Appalachian vernacular built on a previously developed site using reclaimed lumber, an existing foundation, and a high-performance envelope. Innovative design and building strategies include passive solar heating, roof orientation for active solar, natural ventilation cooling, advanced framing, air-tight envelope with continuous insulation, and a spot energy recovery ventilator (ERV) for bathroom exhaust and fresh air.
