Logan Martin Lakehouse

These homeowners went from vacationing in their lakehouse to living in it full time. While the location was perfect for year-round living, the lack of space proved challenging.

The homeowners recognized an overall expansion of the home was the answer. They wanted to expand the size of the living room and include windows showcasing the lake view. They also wanted a dedicated master suite with a master bath with walk-in shower and separate tub built over a two-car basement garage. In the process, the small U-shaped kitchen would be gutted and updated and the cramped, avocado green, hall bathroom would be redone.

The master bedroom suite was built above the new basement with multiple windows providing beautiful lake views and natural lighting. In the spacious master bath, a luxurious tile shower rests in one end with a Kohler Archer Bubblemassage bathtub in the other. Double vanities built with Cabico® cabinets provide plenty of arm-room and storage for the homeowners to enjoy the space simultaneously. The bathroom floor is finished with Oceanaire Ashore by Crossville tile in a gorgeous herringbone pattern.

The hall bath was reconfigured for practicality by moving the vanity into former closet space and installing a Kohler Archer bathtub with sliding glass doors. This bath also features exceptional tile work on the floor and around the tub.

A gas fireplace, finished in stacked rock, found its place in the front corner of the living room, creating a natural area for relaxation. On the opposite end of the living room, the changes to the kitchen were equally dynamic. Previously tight-fitting, dark, and limited, this area evolved into not only a cooking area but an ideal spot to gather and entertain as well. Completely opened up in both height and width, the kitchen features a 9-foot long granite topped island as the centerpiece. Built of Pistachio Green Cabico® cabinets with decorative framing, the island sets the tone when entering the home. The cabinets, underlit with LED lighting and framing new stainless appliances, give the kitchen both warmth and openness not offered before.

Using careful planning, innovative design, and detailed construction, the homeowner’s goals were met in full. What was created is functional and aesthetically pleasing, with new construction blending seamlessly into the existing home. The end result is a perfect fitting home where these homeowners can vacation every day!
