This lovely Dutch colonial home on the North Shore of Long Island needed an update, and when the new homeowners came to us for help, we knew their love of elegant, traditional furnishings and soothing, muted colors would blend in seamlessly with the style of the home. The formal living room features a large central fireplace flanked by doorways into an adjacent sun room, so the room’s symmetry guided the furniture placement. Curved velvet swivel chairs and a deep skirted sofa ensure that the space feels gracious and inviting, while tall bookcases flanking a sculptural pedestal table in the bay create a beautiful nook for entertaining. Graceful side tables, eclectic accent pieces and plush throw pillows complete the space.
