LORETTE Sunroom and Decks
These recent retirees love to entertain and wanted to make better use of their expansive riverside back yard. The river floods frequently, so there is a three foot high floodwall surrounding the house, separating it from the yard. Located in southern Manitoba, where temperatures vary from +35 C to -40 C, the homeowners also wanted to extend the 'deck season', so a 3-season sunroom was added into an 'L' between the kitchen and garage. A unique roof design tied it into the existing home linking the deck, family room, indoor hot-tub, and garage. Now the deck straddles the floodwall, making it almost vanish, while the deck and sunroom now serve a new above-ground pool which stands in the flood zone. A raised dining deck and adjacent Bar-B-Que area keep the food and fun flowing.
