Upper East Side Townhouse, Manhattan, New Yor garden. We unhinged doors on this brownstone to fit sixteen foot Hinoki Cypresses in the backyard. I had seen these trees years ago in a local nursery, where a worker had planted them as a windbreak. The three trees had to be brought to Manhattan on a tow truck for semis. The trees are the garden, their their tops poking through the library window on the 2nd floor. We planted an additional hinoki in the front in an elevated planter so the client could have the same view in front and rear windows.
