Mansfield Net Zero Farmhouse

Wolfworks won our third CT Net Zero Challenge for this high performance home in Mansfield that achieves exceptional energy performance and affordability by integrating today’s most advanced building practices with lessons from the beloved New England farmhouse style. The home is being recognized for the way it is constructed to require 80% less energy than a code built home.

The welcoming entry displays the CT Net Zero Challenge award this home received. A stair with a skylight above leads to the two upstairs bedrooms. The crafty island is a place to hang out as well as providing an ample cooking prep surface
Welcome in and Up
The entry arrival offers a counter to leave keys, charge phones, and drop mail. The stair flows up with a bookcase nestled in and a skylight above. A pantry cabinet is nestled in to provide storage in this otherwise open kitchen. The crafty island features an end with a bookcase.

Mansfield Net Zero Farmhouse
One of the great features of a high performance home are the deep window sills. The detailing is kept simple, with a deep wood sill and drywall returns around the openings.

With its crafty counter and large south facing window this kitchen is a cheerful delight, both to cook and to visit in.

The kitchen area flows into the dining and gathering space, and from there out to the screen porch and patio, those great "outdoor rooms."

The open kitchen with floating shelves opens into the dining and living areas. This south facing social part of the house is light filled. The door opens out onto a stone patio with a firepit.

This south facing space is seen looking back from the living family gathering area. On this December day the light penetrates deep into the space AND it is heating the house!
